Looking weary and haunted, Cliff Richard stepped briefly on to British soil – as the police inquiry into child sex abuse allegations against him shows no sign of coming to an end.
The 74-year-old appeared dishevelled when he left from Heathrow Airport after less than 24 hours in the country.
He was spotted with his long-term companion John McElynn, who has been at his side almost constantly as he battles the allegations.
Friends say the former priest, 60, has been Sir Cliff’s ‘rock’ and staunchest defender as he faces the biggest crisis of his life.
